Penrose Fish & Chips
located at 600 Mt Pleasant Road is an institution from the past
serving Toronto's best fishing chips for over 40 years. They serve fresh halibut and store cut fries.
Their blueberry pie, priced under three dollars, is also
outstanding. You can dine
in and if you pickup, they will wrap the fish in newspapers, just as
we all remember when we were children.
Unfortunately,
the price of halibut has hit the roof, so their portions are not as
large as one might like, but everything is fresh and the batter is light
and crispy. This remains
a busy place for very good reason. Be prepared, however,
to eat early. This places closes every night by 7 p.m.
